First time buyers to design dream country home following Kilmore move

Bianca Siracusa and Jordan Aquilina are making the move north to Kilmore to secure a larger block to build their first home.

The young couple realised living in a regional area would enable them to buy a bigger homesite, and build the home of their dreams, without the expensive city price tag.

Ms Siracusa said the couple decided on Broadstead Kilmore because they had always wanted to live the ‘country lifestyle’ without sacrificing urban convenience.

“Kilmore has a great homely vibe. It’s a very relaxed community with lots of nature reserves, and it’s still only about one hour from the city, so it’s the best of both worlds,” she said.

“We moved about 45 minutes north from Roxburgh Park because land was more affordable and having a larger block gave us more opportunity to design the home we wanted, instead of trying to fit everything on a smaller lot.

“We feel there’s a lot of sentimental value in building a home and planning every detail to suit your lifestyle, rather than either working with or modifying the choices someone else has made in an established home.

“We are fortunate that my dad is a builder and I’m a draftsman, so together we can make our plans a reality.

“I’d advise any other first home buyers to know what they are looking for, work within a budget and try to explore other suburbs where they might be able to get more value for money.”
